Fall marathons

We give a round of applause to:

--> Suzanne Lewis for a great run in the Steamtown Marathon, 10/8.
--> the MANY WRRC members and friends who participated in the Baltimore Marathon & Running Festival, 10/14.

--> Harold Walsh and Bob Paczynski for fantastic runs in the Chicago Marathon, 10/22.
-->Jon Hill, Jim Rodriguez, and Scott Kohr for great performances in the Marine Corps Marathon, 10/29.
-> John Kippen for yet another successful race and Suzanne Lewis for her first appearance in the JFK 50-miler, 11/18.

NCR Trail Marathon Results, 11/25


Rory Jenkins 2:46:21 2nd overall
->Rory, who won last year's Mayberry Four Mile Trot, qualified for the 2007 Boston Marathon

Scott Douglas 2:52:46 4th overall
->Scott, who is the record holder for the BV Half Marathon, qualified for the 2007 Boston Marathon

Karsten Brown 2:55:41 9th overall, 1st male (30-34)
->Karsten's time qualifies him for the 2007 Boston Marathon.

Remus Medley 2:57:22 10th overall, 3rd male (35-39)
->Remus's time qualifies him for the 2007 Boston Marathon.

Alan Pobletts 3:12:57 26th overall
->Alan's time qualifies him for the 2007 Boston Marathon.

Bill Stahr 3:22:18 47th overall
->Bill, who finished third at this year's Mighty Medford Freeway 5K and won this year's Bear Run Four Miler, qualified for the 2007 Boston Marathon.

Monika Bachmann 3:37:37 88th overall, 2nd female masters
->Monika, who finished as the first female masters at this year's Mighty Medford Freeway 5K, qualified for the 2007 Boston Marathon.

->James Moreland 4:06:22 173rd overall

->Maureen Hall 4:10:56 184th overall

->Bethany Scherbarth 4:28:10 234th overall

NCR Trail Marathon Relay Results, 11/25

Three's Enough 4:17:08 59th overall team
->This team is composed of Simeon and Margaret Schlossberg. Simeon is a colleague of Skip Fennell and has challenged the Fennell clan to a winner-take-all race at next year's NCR Trail Marathon Relay.


JFK 50 Mile, 11/18

John Kippen 389th overall 9:59:10
->John is the owner of If the Shoe Fits, one of the WRRC sponsors. He lives and works in Frederick.

Suzanne Lewis, 10:28:51
->This was Suzanne's first ultra marathon.


Philadelphia Marathon Results, 11/19

Jill Krebs 3:05:17 26th female/2181, 10th female (24-29)
->Although Jill did not meet the Olympic Trial standard of 2:47, her time does qualify her for the 2007 Boston Marathon.

Diana Pool 2:53:06 9th female/2181, 4th female (24-29)
->Although Diana did not meet the Olympic Trial standard of 2:47, her time does qualify her for the 2007 Boston Marathon.


Marine Corps Marathon, 10/29

Jon Hill 4784th overall 4:03:46

Chicago Marathon Results, 10/22

Bob Paczynski 3:29:22 4200th overall
->His time qualifies him for the 2007 Boston Marathon.

Baltimore Marathon Results, 10/14

Steve Kartalia 2:40:10 30th overall, 3rd masters
->Steve is a past winner of the BV Half-Marathon, the current masters record holder in that race, and the third place finisher in the 2006 race. His time qualifies him for the 2007 Boston Marathon.

Scott Herrick 2:40:40 32nd overall
->Scott won the 2006 BV Half-Marathon. His time qualifies him for the 2007 Boston Marathon.

Rob Magin 2:41:21 35th overall, 3rd in 35-39 male age group
->Rob graduated from Westminster High School. His time qualifies him for the 2007 Boston Marathon.

Mark Gilmore 2:48:47 38th overall, 5th in 35-39 male age group
->Mark won both the BV Half-Marathon and the Main Street Mile in 2004. This year he finished second in the BV Half-Marathon. His time qualifies him for the 2007 Boston Marathon.

Alan Pobletts 3:16:23 136th overall
->His time qualifies him for the 2007 Boston Marathon.

Finian Brennan 3:32:08 295th overall

Doug Preston 3:32:25 299th overall, 4th in 55-59 male age group
->His time qualifies him for the 2007 Boston Marathon.

John Steers 4:07:26 916th overall
->John is a physician who lives in Finksburg.

John Kippen 4:09:57 971st overall
->John is the owner of If The Shoe Fits in Frederick, a WRRC sponsor.

Mindy Bacon 4:22:38 1200th overall, 10th in 50-54 female group
->Mindy is the fastest female banker in the county.

Baltimore Marathon Relay Results

1. Mixed Relay
-> Falls Road Running Store 2:55:50 3rd team -- This team contained Rory Jenkins, who won last year's Mayberry 4-mile Trot.
-> Carroll County Youth Service Bureau 3:40:35 58th team -- This team contained Gary Honeman.

2. Male Relay
-> Yinger 3:34:01 31st team -- This team contained Tom Yinger, who was so fresh after his effort that he won the Otterdale Mill 5 Mile Run the next weekend.

Baltimore Half-Marathon Results

Carl Clark, 1:18:49 16th overall, 3rd masters -- Carl won the Main Street Mile in 2006.

Rich Beck, 1:37:24 156th overall

Jim Rodriguez, 1:46:09 414th overall

Linda Kiphart, 1:48:17 520th overall, 5th in 50-54 female group -- Linda works as Jim's assistant.

Pete Lester, 1:53:56 862nd overall

Patrick Brennan, 1:55:52 996th overall

Tim Gosnell, 2:00:21 1347th overall

Skip Fennell, 2:00:24 1350th overall

Amy Morrow Funk 2:04:08 1612th overall -- Amy was listed as 7th overall, 4th female in the Survivor Half-Marathon.

Klaus Lemke, 2:05:22 1716th overall

Becky Arnold, 2:07:55 1884th overall

Silvia Upton, 2:08:38 1940th overall -- Silvia is a McDaniel College faculty spouse, an adjunct faculty member, and the mother of two small children. Her husband, Bryn, was a contestant on Jeopardy last fall.

Tony Sager, 2:09:04 1969th overall -- Tony is a graduate, a number of years ago, of McDaniel College, when it was known as Western Maryland College.

Deborah Arnold, 2:15:35 2365th overall

Paul Welliver, 2:30:37 3061st overall -- Paul is a trainer for several local high schools and a physical therapist. He was associated with McDaniel College at one time.

Carolyn Welliver, 2:30:37 3062nd overall -- Carolyn is Paul's daughter. She paced him in this race.
