Running news

- Our Sunday morning running group typically meets at 6:30 AM at McDaniel College (above the track by the security office) for our long runs. We run varying distances (8-12 miles) and times (8-10 min pace). Contact David Foote (FooteFive@gmail.com) for more info and to find out where they are running that week.

2010

- Way to go WRRC ladies for running well at the Baltimore 10-miler (6/19): Carole Williamson (1:53:33), Debbie Leathers (1:53:33).
- A fast, but hot day at the Highlands Sky 40
(6/19): Alan Gowen, Rhonda Stricklett, Beth Weisenborn.

- Dave Griffin's column about Rob Magin.
- From Glenn Smink: "Thanks to no older Westminster Road Runners showing up at the Mission Possible 5k on Memorial Day, I was able to place 1st in the 60 & over age group. This was my 1st win of an age group since I began running with the BRRC back around 1975. Plus, this award was surprising to me as I had missed the finish line chute, because so many people were milling around, and I ran an extra 20 yds., then had to turn around and go back to finish."

- Local runners 'beat the heat' at the North Face Endurance Challenge 50K: Jenn Houck, Carole Williamson, Debbie Leathers, and Beth Weisenborn.
- Way to go Karsten Brown, Alan Gowen, and Rhonda Stricklett for completing the Massanutten Mountain Trail 100-mile race on May 15-16.

- CONGRATULATIONS to Rachel Walter, who ran the National Guard Lincoln Marathon on Sunday, May 2nd. Rachel ran a 3:37:45 (PR), which qualified her for Boston AND qualified her for the National Guard Marathon Team.
- Well done to our WRRC and other Westminster-area finishers at the:
--> Pittsburgh Marathon: Kevin Giffhorn, Nancy Petrosky, Beth Weisenborn, Lucia Davidson, Carole Williamson, Nanette Melton, Pam Gowen, Danielle Schwessinger, Debbie Leathers
--> Frederick Marathon: Morton Caster (1st overall), David Swope (1st wheelchair), Karsten Brown (2nd overall), Victor Cretella (3rd overall), Michael Evans Jr, David Welsh, Amy Morrow-Funk, Spencer Hamblen, Jim Rodriguez, Matthew Colender, and Jack Wargo.

Having fun
