Bear Run 4-miler, 8 February 2009.
Gorgeous day for a run.
Race director, Sam Alspach, and co-director (and best pal), Sam Case, put on a friendly, low-key 4-mile race through quaint Pleasant Valley along Bear Run. The Bear Run 4-miler attracted 65 runners and walkers (many of whom were new faces) of all ages and from locations all over Pennsylvania, Maryland, DC, and Virginia -- I guess the beautiful weather, late race-start time, country scenery along the course, and cheap race fee were too good to pass up. Moreover, the winter Flying Feet group, headed by Dave Griffin, showed up to stretch their legs and test their will as they attempted to run negative splits (into a head-wind!). Most, if not all, runners had big smiles on their faces after the race as they sunned themselves and cheered on the finishers.
