Dasher Dance 10K (~25th annual), 14 December 2008.
Great race to complete the 2008 running schedule.
A speedy, young pack of runners assembled on a cold Sunday morning to tackle the rolling (and challenging) Dasher Dance course. Thanks to the many veteran volunteers none of the runners took a wrong turn. Everyone made it back to Tech Court a little warmer than they had been at the race start -- most were even wearing a big smile. The smile could have been due to the tailwind reported to have pushed all runners in both directions on the course... or, more likely, everyone was happy to be done with the run so they could gobble-up Shirley Leatherman's awesome chocolate chip cookies! In any event, fun was had by all including Santa Klaus, who ran the race without his sleigh and reindeer (it was against RRCA and USATF regulations).
Many thanks to our volunteers and dedicated race director, Bob Leatherman, who as always had seriously cool race awards (books, water bottles, and cookie!) for every participant. Thanks also to Bob's wife, Shirley, for her yummy cookies.
Our next race, the Winfield Mile, will be held on Thursday, January 1 2009 (12 NOON) at South Carroll High School. Please arrive early so you can sign in and run/walk 1 mile up to the race start!
