Joanne Lynam Memorial 5K, 14 April 2007. In what may be the last Joanne Lynam Memorial Race/walk held at Shiloh Middle, North Carroll High School junior Alex Unglesbee and Shiloh Middle School eighth grader Anna Pagels won the men's and women's divisions of a race shrunken in size by schedule conflicts and communications problems. Originally scheduled for April 21, a date which allowed publicity in the Main Street Mile mailing and MSM race day announcements, the race was rescheduled for April 14 because of a conflict with the start of the Little League baseball season in Hampstead, complete with a parade on part of the race course. The rescheduling caused conflicts with lacrosse games and track meets, reducing the field to thirty-one and the donations to a college scholarship given yearly to a graduate of North Carroll and Shiloh Middle to $450, both amounts being roughly a third of what has been the case in recent years. Running on a cool and cloudy day, Unglesbee broke free early in the opening portion of the out and back grass/road course to win by over a minute. Pagels finished tenth overall, as the first female, with a similar margin. Duane Anderson and Linda Morris finished as first masters runners.
