Twilight Series #3: Hashawa Trail Run Results
Leathers, Stick Conquer the Hills and Mud of Camp Hashawa.
During a week in which flooding and mayhem were alive throughout the land, Arthur Leathers and Sherry Stick proved to be more capable than anyone else of attacking the hills, mud, and standing water of the legendary Camp Hashawa trail run in the third of this summer's Twilight Series races.
The course was obviously skewed in the favor of high school cross-country runners, since the first six and nine of the first twelve male finishers are either present or former members of county cross-country teams, while three of the top five female finishers fit the same mold.
Although the course was affected to some extent by the recent rainy and windy conditions, a number of runners indicated that it was no worse than in past years. Numerous runners commented on the fact that it was well marked, a compliment to race director Gary Honeman, who made several trips around the course, including one just before the race, to ensure that both veteran and novice runners would be guided properly.
