Twilight Series #2: Run with the Knights 5K Jubb, Stick Capture Knights 5K. On a sunny, pleasant evening Greg Jubb and Sherry Stick ran the hills of South Carroll better than anyone else to capture the Run With the Knights 5K, the second in this summer's Twilight Series of races. Jubb, who finished second to Steve Kartalia in the two mile track run two weeks ago, established an early lead as the field of fifty-one headed east from Century High School. By the time he had reached the two kilometer mark, the rising junior at Loyola Blakefield in Towson had established an insurmountable lead as the field moved on to a short stretch of Old Liberty Road. With no one to challenge him, Jubb finished in a time of 17:09, significantly faster than the time of 17:55 posted by Brian Leiter in last year's initial race on the course. Masters runer Ted Poulos from McLean, Virginia, spent most of the race narrowly ahead of Arthur Leathers, who won bragging rights among the FSK runners by outrunning Kurtis Lunz and Jordan White. Stick ran in the top five for most of the race, eventually finishing fourth overall with a three minute margin of victory. Her time of 19:00 was exactly the time she ran last year on this course. Becky Leathers enhanced her credentials as the fastest of the high school crowd by finishing a solid second, with fellow FSK runners Mairin Leahy and Emily Russell also among the top finishers. Dee Nelson, who is currently listed as THE TOP RUNNER in the Baltimore-Washington metro area in the 60-64 female age group by the Washington Running Report, finished as the top masters runner. For those who are interested, these rankings are determined by James Moreland, who finished as the ninth male and tenth overall in the race. The next Twilight Series race is at Camp Hashawa, north of Westminster off Route 97, at 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 29. For more information contact Gary Honeman at 410-848-2118.
