Mayberry 4-mile Trot , 11 November 2005 Jenkins, McCubbin Tame Mayberry Course Rory Jenkins and Tina McCubbin conquered Stone Road better than anyone else in winning the Mayberry Four Mile Trot on November 20. With no headwind and a long downhill slope in the first mile, Jenkins and the Leathers brothers, Adam and Arthur quickly separated themselves from the rest of the seventeen runner field. Jenkins posted a time of 5:05 for the first mile, with Adam Leathers ten seconds behind and Arthur fifteen seconds behind. Trailing another minute behind were Baltimore Marathon participants Tom Yinger and Doug Preston. Although everyone's pace slowed on the flat portion of the out-and-back course, Jenkins slowed the least, and by the time he passed the three mile mark in 16:40, he was a minute and twenty seconds ahead of Arthur Leathers. Adam Leathers was in third, with Tom Yinger closing in on him. Jenkins crossed the finish line over two minutes ahead of Arthur Leathers, with Tom Yinger in third, almost a half-minute ahead of Adam Leathers. Doug Preston finished fifth as the first masters runner. Tina McCubbin passed the one mile mark in seventh place overall with a time of 6:48. Trailing by forty-five seconds was Debra Leathers, with Mindy Bacon fifteen seconds behind and the duo of Kourtnay Purcaro and Heather Burker thirty seconds behind Bacon. McCubbin stretched her lead at the finish line to over four and one-half minutes over Leathers, who finished as the first masters runner. Bacon, Purcaro, and Burker completed a string of five female finishers in a row in the middle of the pack.
