Otterdale 5-mile Run, 24 October 2004 Sinclair, McCubbin Triumph at Otterdale Mill On a dark, dreary, rainy morning, fourteen hardy souls made their way to suburban Taneytown to compete in the Otterdale Mill Five Mile Run. Over the years this race, no matter when it is held, has had the worst record for less than favorable weather. On this day at least the rain slowed during the actual race. Prior to the race the birth of Aiden Weisenborn was announced to the audience, which cheered mightily at the news. Once the race started, Chris Sinclair from Baltimore, who has been recovering from a broken bone in his foot since August, charged to the front and stayed there. Times of 6:30 for the first mile and 19:45 for three miles yielded a finishing time of 33:24, not bad for a bad foot. Tina McCubbin ran second the whole way, with split times of 6:35 for one mile and 19:55 for three miles, finishing in 33:41, a good finishing time and a really consistent effort. Bob Leatherman finished third in 33:53 as the first masters runner, with Joe Loveland in fourth and Klaus Lemke, recent, as in eight days ago, Baltimore Marathon finisher in fifth. Chris Resse outkicked Liuda Galinaitis for second female and first masters female position. The next race is the
Caples Cross-Country Caper, to be held at the Caple farm on Route 27 at
noon on Sunday, November 7.
