Caple X-Counry Caper 3-mile Run, 24 October 2004 Cox, Clower Clobber Competition at Caple Cross-Country Caper On a sunny day at the Caple farm south of Westminster, Dave Cox took a break from coaching the Westminster boy's cross-country team, and Sherry Clower took a break from almost single-handedly running the Friendship Valley Elementary School to post victories in the Caple Cross-Country Caper. Since the distance for this race is something in excess of three miles, and since the course may be changed for future years, everyone who ran it got a pr for the distance. Cox, who was incorrectly rumored to be bringing his cross-country team to the race, grabbed the lead early and finished with a nearly thirty second margin over Mike Wilkins. These two were followed by three masters runners and by state trooper Jon Hill, who recently appeared on the front page of the Carroll Country Times. Clower finished seventh overall, with a more than five minute advantage over masters runner Lisa Warren, Tiffany Cox and Aly Conran followed. The highlight of the morning
was a public appearance by one of the WRRC's newest generation, Lynn and
Scott Kohr's two week old baby daughter (can a visit by the newest Weisenborn
be on the schedule for the Mayberry Four Miler, to be held on the Weisenborn
home turf?).
