Cox Captures Caple Cross-Country Caper
Defending the title he won last year, Dave Cox, currently the cross-country coach at Westminster High School, started fast and finished strong in winning the Caple Cross-Country Caper, held at the Caple Farm near Westminster on November 3.
Running at a seven minute per mile pace over hilly terrain, Cox led the entire way, finishing more than a two minute advantage over masters runner Troy Conran, who was running his second cross-country race of the day. Middle school runner Justin May-West finished in third place, a minute behind Conran and three minutes ahead of Klaus Lemke and Scott Kohr, who are still recovering from the Baltimore Marathon, Daryl Divizio finished as the first senior runner.
Sisters Beckah and Aly Conran ran a close race the entire way to finish as the top two women.
