WESTMINSTER, 10/14 -- Air Force Major John Marsh won the 10K portion in 37 minutes, 23 seconds and Washington County high school coach Keith Muller averaged 6:22 per mile to win the 20K Sunday at Baugher's Orchard in Westminster. 

          In training to run his first marathon on Oct. 28 in Washington, D.C., Marsh showed up in Westminster only because the Army 10-Miler had been cancelled. It was well worth the hour-long drive from Andrews Air Force Base, however, as the 13-year military veteran averaged 6:02 per mile -- putting him well within reach of his sub-3 hour goal for the Marine Corps Marathon and outdistancing second place by nearly four minutes.

          WRRC member Tina McCubbin was the first female to cross the finish line, clocking a 44:56. McCubbin's average of 7:15 per mile placed her sixth overall, 31 seconds behind Joe Loveland. Sherry Clower was the second female, and ninth overall, with a time of 51:09. FSK High School senior Erin Hiner was third in 56:09 -- 13th in the overall standings.

          Muller, cross country coach at St. James private school in Hagerstown, Md., grabbed the lead in the 20K competition and never looked back. Muller finished in 1:19:02, more than two minutes ahead of runner-up Tim Morgan in 1:21:28. Richard Morgan was third in 1:22:30. James Moreland was the third Masters finisher behind the Tim and Richard Morgan, clocking a 1:25:09, good for sixth overall.

          Della McIntyre was the first and only female finisher in the 20K portion of the day's festivities. McIntyre finished in 2:01:50 -- 13th out of 14 finishers.
