Esposito, Alvarez shine at Garrett's 5K
FREDERICK, April 20 -- Team CMAC charter member and Salisbury State University graduate Sherry Esposito was the first female to cross the finish line in the Garrett's 5K on Saturday in downtown Frederick.
Esposito, 23, averaged 6:05 per mile to finish in 18 minutes, 51 seconds -- good for 10th place overall out of 321 finishers.
New member Becky Alvarez, 22, of Westminster, finished in 26th place with a time of 20:49 while averaging 6:43 per mile.
With 321 finishers, both Esposito and Alvarez finished in the top 13 percent of the field. Both plan on lowering their 5K race times throughout the summer racing season.
