Pastor Laura is from Florissant, Missouri, which is in the St. Louis area. Her parents still reside there as well. She is a lifelong member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ferguson, Missouri. Laura attended Hazelwood Central High School in Florissant, earned a Bachelor of Arts in music from Truman State University, and has a Master of Divinity degree from Eden Theological Seminary. She has also attended numerous specialized courses and seminars, and spent time teaching as well.
Reverend Cross was ordained by the United Church of Christ on September 28, 2003, and served St. Mark’s United Church of Christ in Reading, Pennsylvania. She was the first solo female pastor in any of Reading’s seven UCC churches. Prior to this she spent two years in Venezuela doing missionary work. Laura speaks Spanish fluently.
We found her preaching to be Bible based, spontaneous, energetic, and relevant. Pastor Laura is easy to get to know, outgoing, and very friendly. She was keenly interested in the history and dynamics of our church and the wider community. Laura’s deep personal faith, energy, affable personality, fine education, and depth of experience will be wonderful assets to Trinity United Church of Christ. We are truly blessed to have Rev.
