African storytellers and shamans shared the wonder of Shadow, who is everywhere, all the time. The poet Blaise Cendrars captured Shadow’s dancing image in words, now translated into this story.  Shadow never speaks; it only listens.  It follows man everywhere—even to war. As long as there is light or fire, there is Shadow—and when night falls, Shadow goes back to the forest. (AB)
