Aardema, Verna. Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears. New York: Dial, 1975.

Who killed the baby owl?  In this West African tale, the mother owl is so sad that she cannot hoot and wake the sun. King Lion unravels the chain of events and discovers that it all started with a silly lie! It ends with a guilty mosquito buzzing into an ear and asking if  everyone is still angry with him. (AB)
