1960 Caldecott
Ets, Marie Hall and Aurora Labastida.  Nine Days to Christmas.  Illustrated by Marie Hall Ets.  New York: Viking, 1959.

At last, Ceci is old enough to have her own posada—a Christmas party! For the celebration, she chooses a beautiful star-shaped piñata.  Her mother tells her that it represents the Christmas star that shone over the stable where baby Jesus was born.  Ceci fills her piñata with all sorts of treats, but when it is time to break it, she cannot bear to see it destroyed. Then, something wonderful happens. (AB)
