1948 Caldecott
Tresselt, Alvin.  White Snow, Bright Snow.  Illustrated by Roger Duvoisin.  New York: Lothrop, 1947.

The policeman’s wife knew it was going to snow because her big toe hurt. Sure enough, a sparkling white blanket of snow covered the town. Rabbits hid in their warm burrows, the postman slipped and fell into a snowbank, and the policeman caught a cold.  The children laughed and built snow forts and had snowball fights. Here is a book your grandparents may have enjoyed when they were children! (AB)
