The telephone number for Frederick County Recycle is 301.600.2960.
If you need a recycling bin, please contact Key Sanitation at 301.668.8282.
Comingled items (cans, glass, and any plastic bottle where the opening is smaller than the body) should be put in a suitable container. Do not put any recyclables into plastic bags. Newspapers and household paper can be bundled or placed in a paper bag. Flatten and bundle cardboard into 2' X 3' pieces no higher than 6".
Do you have something that you'd like to give away rather than to throw it away? Try this link to Freecycle where you can post your unwanted "free" items; "Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, wood, a piano or an old car, feel free to post it.".Used Engine Oil and Antifreeze
Used engine oil and antifreeze can be recycled at the town maintenance yard on 215 Prospect Road, by arrangement with the Maryland Environmental Service. There are labeled metal tanks out front on the street into which residents can pour oil and antifreeze. Residents are responsible for the proper disposal of empty containers elsewhere (they can’t be left at the maintenance yard).
Metal Recycling Opportunities
Twice a year, generally on the third Saturday in April and third Saturday in October, the Town holds a clean up day at the municipal parking lot in conjunction with the Jaycees and Scouts. A variety of metal items can be dropped off for recycling at these events (see scrap metals list). Appliances and equipment in working or nearly-working condition can be dropped off for free give away. In the event no one wants these items, they will be recycled or disposed of with solid waste collected that clean-up day. Materials can be dropped off from 8 AM until noon only when town staff and roll-off bins are present. Pick-ups of materials from your home can generally be arranged through the Jaycees or Scouts in exchange for a donation to these organizations. You can contact town hall for additional information prior to each event.
