Committees & Task Forces | |
- Growth and Development Task Force - The Growth and Development Task Force is intended to provide advice and assistance to the Town Council and Planning and Zoning Commission on future planning issues, with a special focus on citizen involvement. The Task Force may work with other town commissions, including Parks and Recreation and Water and Sewer, among others, as needed.
- Goals: Considering best planning practices and new ideas in planning; considering open space and other proposals; considering updates to the adequate facilities law, including reviewing standards and facilities tested; a visioning process for the master plan update; including citizen involvement in the master plan update; and reviewing growth controls and projections. Other ideas and goals may be added.
- Process: Should report regularly to both Planning and Zoning and Town Council, meet at least monthly, and begin with a priority setting process that includes citizen involvement.

- It is expected that membership will be appointed by the Mayor at the September council meeting on September 11, 2006. The first meeting of the Task Force should be announced after that time.
- Town Committee on Schools - This is a committee of the town council and as such, the only official members are members of the council. Council members will act as facilitators and will be responsible for referring any policy decisions to the entire council for consideration and action as appropriate. All council members are also considered standing members of this committee and are invited to attend any and all sessions. In order to ensure that all provisions of the Open Meetings Act are fully complied with, all meetings will be open to the public with meeting times published in advance. Normally, meetings will occur on the second Wednesday of each month during the evening hours. In the event there is a need to hold a special meeting, all council members will be notified and a press release will be issued to announce the meeting. One councilman designated by the others will be responsible for notifying and coordinating with other council members.
