Cases brought before the Orphans' Court included contested estates, guardianships, some indentures, runaway slaves, any estate probated judicially, and a multitude of single-issue cases. Research Policy & Fees
Volunteers at CCGS will search the Society's material plus sources at the Carroll County Courthouse such as wills, administrations, land records, chancery records, marriages, etc. Anyone desiring help must write (not email) a clear, concise explanation of exactly what information they need and include the $10.00 initial fee for 1 hour of research. Each additional hour is also $10.00. Photocopying costs are - $0.10/page for material from CCGS; $0.25/page for material from the Historical Society of Carroll County; and $0.50 for records from the Carroll County Courthouse. Postage to send accumulated material will be added and a bill sent when research is completed. Researchers will consult with you before proceeding beyond the first hour of research.
