Westminster, Maryland

The Carroll County Genealogical Society, Inc. was founded in 1981 to stimulate interest in genealogy and educate the membership and general public in proper and ethical methods of genealogical research and gathering, recording and dissemination of genealogical and historical information.

Meetings are held the third Monday of each month, except January, February, July and August, at the Westminster Branch Library at 50 East Main Street, Westminster, Maryland. The public is always welcome. The Society's collection is housed at the same location.

            Library hours are:
              Mon-Thur 9:30-8:45
              Fri-Sat 9:30-5:00
Important Notice: The Westminster Branch will be closed for approximately one month beginning on or about May 18, 2009. Genealogy researchers unable to use our collection housed in that facility will find material at the Historical Society of Carroll County's Library located at 210 E. Main Street, Westminster. Check the websites of both the public library and the historical society for hours of operation and for re-opening of the public library.

Aquarterly newsletter, The Carrolltonian, is published in September, December, March and June of each year. The Society's special projects include copying cemetery inscriptions in Carroll County, gathering church and bible records and indexing materials valuable to researchers. CCGS will provide genealogical research assistance for an hourly fee plus postage and photocopying charges (see Miscellaneous for further details).
