Bianca Lavies is not only a writer, she is also a
photographer and an adventurer. Born in Holland, she has lived in
New Zealand and South Africa. She arrived in the U.S. by crossing
the Atlantic in a thirty-foot sailboat. She presently lives in Annapolis,
Maryland, where she has kept wasps as house guests.
For many years, she was a photographer for National Geographic.
Now, she works full-time at making books. To take her pictures, Bianca
has slithered among snakes, endured killer bee attacks, and she’s even
