Exhibition Opportunities

Our entire facility is a showcase for the visual and performing arts, with works attractively displayed in the Tevis Gallery on the main floor and the Community Gallery on the second floor as well as the hallways and lobby.

Our primary goals for selecting art are as follows:

High QualityWe strive to display art of the highest artistic standards as determined by the professional principals of good design.

Variety:  We work to offer wide variety of mediums and styles both within a particular exhibition as well as over the course of the calendar year.

Not Available Elsewhere in Carroll County:  We endeavor to feature work that is unique to the area and not regularly displayed at the local colleges, libraries and other commercial galleries.  We aim to provide a distinctive cultural experience that is not available elsewhere in the County.

The Tevis Gallery

This 1,200 sq. foot space is our primary gallery and is reserved for professional-quality group shows based around a central theme, medium or artistic genre.  Typically show themes are selected approximately a year in advance by the gallery committee in response to community interest.  The Visual Arts Coordinator along with members of our gallery committee work throughout the year to identify appropriate artists to be invited to participate in each particular show.  Some are discovered through gallery visits, some through internet searches and some are chosen as a result of the artist submitting slide images for consideration.  In addition, our annual Members Exhibit* is considered essential “scouting territory” to help us identify artists whose work is of the caliber we are striving to present.  Exhibitions run approximately 7 weeks.

THE 2ND FLOOR COMMUNITY GALLERY

This space is well lit and has visitor foot traffic equal to that of the Tevis Gallery. Typically this space houses shows by groups such as schools, senior citizen organizations, clubs, etc.

ANNUAL MEMBERS EXHIBIT

Every year we host a members exhibit where any member in good standing can display a work of art.  There is no jurying involved to enter, and artists do not need to submit images in advance.  However, judging takes place once the works are installed and prizes are awarded to those with the highest scores. This is traditionally a well attended show and a dynamic display of a wide range of styles and experience levels. As previously mentioned, some artists are invited to show in future gallery exhibits based on the piece they enter in this important show.  Registration applications are available in June.

ART IN THE PARK

The first Saturday in June is our annual outdoor festival of the visual and performing arts.  Artists are invited to register for this opportunity to display their art for a large and attentive crowd. Artists can set up their own display booth, or hang work from a wire grid fence that is provided by the CCAC.  Sales can be brisk for hard-working artists.  Prizes for artistic excellence are awarded by an independent panel of judges.  This is a rain or shine event. Registration applications are available in March.  Again, some artists are chosen for gallery exhibits as a result of participating in Art in the Park.

CRAFT CASE

We are continually looking for fine craft artists to display their work in the glass showcase in our lobby.  Jewelry, weaving, basketry, carvings, prints, etc. are welcome.  Samples or slides should be submitted to the Visual Arts Coordinator for consideration.  No mass-produced or kit-based items will be accepted.  The same high standards apply to selection of these pieces. They are offered for sale for a period of 6-8 weeks.  Typically artists can only display once per year to enable us to feature as many craft artists as possible.

GENERAL INFORMATION

A 25% commission is collected by CCAC for all art sales.  Shipping and/or delivery charges are the responsibility of the artist. It is strongly encouraged that artists maintain homeowners or renters insurance on their works displayed at the CCAC.
